I wasn’t invited. I went anyway.
Short answer
This post by Gabe Key, the photographer behind GKPhoto in Apex, NC, is about showing up prepared and finding a way in. It connects the published campaign work to the way sessions run today. To see the work, visit the published page, or book a session.
The best photos I have ever taken came from rooms I was not supposed to be in. Early on I learned that opportunity rarely sends an invitation. It shows up as a door left slightly open, and you decide whether to walk through it.
That mindset is how I ended up photographing events featuring Presidents Trump, Obama and Clinton and Vice President Harris, and building a body of work across the Triangle. I show up, I read the room, and I figure it out.
That is the promise I make to every client, whether it is a graduation session in Apex or a family shoot in Cary: I will be prepared, I will be present, and I will come back with images you will keep.
Next step: see the campaign trail or book a session.
