How it is calculated
- Each set of answers maps to one package in the GKPhoto price list, updated 2026-07-07. Package names, prices, durations and what is included are read from that list. None of it is typed into the quiz.
- Teams: the quiz compares $150 per person, $1,200 for a half day and $2,200 for a full day. The half day is the lower price from 8 people and the full day from 15 people. These points are worked out from the list, so they move if the list changes.
- Game coverage: the first 2 hours are $525. Each extra hour is $275.
- Looks: The Personal Brand includes 2 to 3 outfits or backdrops. A fourth or fifth look adds $25 each.
- Travel: priced by distance from Apex. The first 10 miles are included, $50 covers 10 to 25 miles and $100 covers 25 to 50 miles. Beyond that it is a custom quote.
- Retainer: 25% reserves the date, non-refundable. Balance day-of. The estimate shows 25 percent of the total.
- Estimates are before tax. NC sales tax is added automatically.

How to read your result
The quiz returns one package, not a menu. It shows the price, how long the session runs, what is included and the travel fee for your town. Below that is the retainer that reserves the date and the balance due on the day. Edited digitals and a print release come with every session, so you never pay extra to use your own photos.
If the result is close but not exact, use the second button. It opens the quote builder with your package and town already filled in, and you can add extras there.
Headshots: one look or a set
Choose The Professional at $250 when you need one clean profile photo. It runs about 20 minutes with 1 to 2 looks and 2 retouched images. Choose The Personal Brand at $395 when the photos will live on a website, a press page and several profiles. It runs about 45 minutes with 2 to 3 outfits or backdrops and 5 retouched images, including a headshot and an environmental frame. A fourth or fifth look is $25 each. Portraits are delivered in 48 hours.
Teams
A team of any size can book on site. Per person it is $150. A half day is $1,200 and a full day is $2,200. The quiz shows all three with your headcount so you can see where each one becomes the lowest price. It is price math only. How many people fit in a day depends on the space and the schedule, and I confirm that with you first.
Family sessions
A Mini is $225: up to 20 minutes, up to 5 people, 1 location and 10 edited images. A Signature is $475: about an hour, 1 to 2 locations, 30 or more edited images and 1 outfit change. The price list marks Signature as the most popular. An Extended is $675: about 90 minutes, multiple locations, 60 or more edited images and room for several generations. A Seasonal Mini is $275 for 20 minutes at the locations on the price list.
Graduation and senior sessions
Classic is $200: about 30 minutes, 1 location, 1 outfit and 15 edited images. Signature is $275: 2 locations, 2 outfits and 30 edited images in 45 to 60 minutes. Elite is $375: about 90 minutes, multiple locations and outfits, 50 edited images and a cap and gown look plus a casual one. The quiz moves you up a package when you ask for more outfits or places than the one below it includes.
Sports and events
An athlete session is $225: about 45 minutes in uniform and casual looks with 20 edited images. Game and action coverage is $525 for up to 2 hours, then $275 for each extra hour. Events start at $500 for 2 hours. For galas and concerts you can pay $250 per hour instead. Events are delivered in 2 to 3 weeks.
Travel and where I shoot
GKPhoto is based in Apex. Travel is included in Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Morrisville and New Hill. It adds $50 in Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, Garner and Pittsboro, and $100 in Durham, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Clayton, Knightdale, Rolesville, Wendell and Zebulon. Beyond 50 miles the fee is a custom quote. Pick your town on the last question and the estimate adds the right fee.

Which photo session do I need?
Match the session to who is in the photos. One person who needs one profile photo books The Professional at $250. A family of up to five books a Mini at $225. A graduate books Classic at $200. An athlete books a session at $225. An event starts at $500 for 2 hours. The quiz does this matching for you.
Is the session quiz free, and do I need to give an email?
It is free, and your result shows on the page without an email. A box under the result lets you ask me to reply with the plan and a quote, and that is optional. I use the email only to reply. The privacy page lists what the site collects. The quiz does not book or charge anything.
Is the price in the quiz final?
It is an estimate from the published price list, before NC sales tax. The total adds travel for your town. Add-ons, a custom travel distance or a change of plan can move it, and I confirm the final number before you book. A 25 percent retainer reserves the date, and the balance is due on the day.
How does the quiz price a team headshot day?
It compares three prices from the list: per person at $150, a half day at $1,200 and a full day at $2,200. At 8 people the half day is no more than the per-person total, so larger teams usually pay less on a day rate. This is price math only. Space and schedule decide how many people fit in a day.
Does the quiz include travel?
Yes. Pick your town on the last question and the estimate adds the travel fee as its own line. Towns close to Apex add nothing, and the fee for every other town is in the travel table on the price list. I confirm the total before you book.
What happens after I send my plan?
I reply within one business day. We then settle the date, the place and the outfits by message or a short call. The retainer reserves the date. I send a short preparation guide before the session. The Pixieset booking page stays one click away if you would rather book straight away.
