Bass Lake: the lakeshore loop
Bass Lake Park has a 1.90-mile loop, mostly mulch, with about 1.65 miles of easy lakeshore walk, so toddlers and grandparents can both reach the water. It is open 8 a.m. to sunset year round. The free lot has 54 spaces, with 3 accessible spaces near the front, and the park is busy.
The lakeshore at golden hour is the draw, and fall rates 5 of 5. The Town lists a visitor center, boat rentals and fishing access nearby.
Mims Park and Parrish Womble Park
Mims Park is 17 acres of wooded hills with natural springs and a 0.8-mile natural loop trail. It has heavy shade and low crowds, so it is a quiet choice and soft on faces. Parking is at the Cultural Center, Town Hall and along W. Ballentine Street.
Parrish Womble Park is 46 acres with an amphitheater, picnic shelters, a playground and greenway trails. It is open sunrise to sunset and has parking near the playground and the restrooms. Both parks follow the Town permit.
The Holly Springs permit, in plain words
No smoke bombs, candles, sparklers, confetti or glitter are allowed at Bass Lake.
Downtown is different. The permit covers parks and greenways, so ask the Town about downtown sidewalks and the Cultural Center grounds at 919-567-4000. I confirm the rule for your date before I book you.

Do I need a permit for a family session in a Holly Springs park?

Where is the best place for family photos in Holly Springs?
Bass Lake Park gives a lakeshore loop and is strongest in fall. Mims Park gives heavy shade and low crowds in the woods. Parrish Womble Park gives room to run and a playground. Downtown gives Main Street shops, but the Saturday market is busy.

You can, but the farmers market beside the Cultural Center makes Saturday mornings busy. A weekday session is calmer, and the lots at the Cultural Center and Town Hall are easier to use. I suggest a time when you book.
